LC785 Pick and Carry Crane plus MRTA8 makes light work of large glass panels on new apartment project in Wilmslow

Glass is becoming substantially larger on construction projects nowadays, this project in Wilmslow is a great example, it was difficult, but we are always up for a challenge here at Vacuum and Crane!

The challenge – Two pieces of large glass measured at 4m x 2.5m – weighing up to 600kg. Delivered to site on an A frame, however, nowhere near the frames for fitting. A challenge where speed, precision and safety were crucial.

The solution – This is where our Maeda LC785 Pick and Carry Crane comes into play as the solution. With its pick and carry duties we were able to plan the movement of the glass across site and into the frame for fitting. 7m boom at 4m radius we had 1100kg SWL capacity so including the MRTA8 we had spare capacity. Pictured is the glass during its travel across site along with the final positioning in the frame. Maeda LC785 Pick & Carry Crane

The LC785 is a large mini crawler with the advantage of pick and carry duties. Operating on tracks rather than outriggers, this crane can work within restricted areas as it has a width of only 2.4m. With the pick and carry duty not only can you lift your load but you can move with it! This crane features a maximum boom length of 15.63m and huge 4.9tons of lifting capacity. With a maximum working height of 16.3m and optional fly jib to 20.3m. With a comfy cab and minimal tail swing this is the ultimate crane for tight areas requiring large lifting capacities and is a class leader in safety on site.

Its extremely compact design (2.36 m wide / 2.80 m high) allows the crane to operate in extremely tight spaces. This means that this mini crawler crane can be used for work in tunnels and subway passages. The compact LC785 is the best in its class when it comes to safety on the construction site with its minimum rear overhang.
